Welcome to Courtney's Classroom Corner. This is an informative website I hope to use to inform and update parents and those interested in the Pre-Kindergarten program. My name is Courtney Heath and I am a Pre-Kindergarten teacher at Downtown Elementary Magnet Academy in Columbus, Georgia. This will be my eleventh year teaching the Lottery Funded Georgia Pre-Kindergarten program.
I was born and raised in Columbus and attended Muscogee County Public Schools from 2nd grade through 8th grade. My mother also works for the school district and I have many teachers that contributed to my love for children and my decision to become one myself.
I received my Early Childhood Education Degree from Columbus State University in 1999 and began teaching Pre-K the following fall. I taught for 2 years and decided to further my education by studying for my Master's Degree. I received this degree in May 2002 from Troy University. I again decided to further my education and began work on my Specialist Degree in the Summer of 2005 at Troy University. I received my Specialist Degree in December of 2008.
I have been married to my wonderful husband, Scott, for 9 years and we have a son, Connor, who is 6, and in kindergarten, and a daughter, Laney, who will be 4 in January.
If you have any questions concerning the classroom or the Pre-Kindergarten program please feel free to email me at anytime.
